FAQs

1. Are GoldenMate LiFePO4 lithium batteries safe?

Yes. GoldenMate LiFePO4 batteries use one of the safest and most stable lithium chemistries available. They are UL-certified and include an advanced Battery Management System (BMS) that protects against over-charge, over-discharge, over-current, overheating, and short circuits. They are also tested to minimize risks of fire and electric shock, even in harsh environments.

2. How can I charge GoldenMate LiFePO4 batteries?

GoldenMate LiFePO4 batteries can be charged with a solar charge controller, a suitable DC-to-DC charger, or a LiFePO4 smart charger.

For this 30Ah model, use a charging voltage of 14.2V–14.6V and do not exceed the specified 15A maximum charging current. A 15A charger typically needs about 2–3 hours from empty; actual time varies with temperature, charger behavior, and the battery's state of charge.

3. How long does it take to charge the battery?

With a compatible 15A LiFePO4 charger, this 30Ah battery typically charges from empty in about 2–3 hours; a 10A charger typically needs about 3–4 hours. Do not use a charging current above 15A. Solar charging time also depends on sunlight and charge-controller output.

4. Can I charge the battery in cold temperatures? Does it have low-temperature protection?

The battery includes low-temperature charging protection, which prevents charging below freezing to avoid cell damage.

Recommended charging temperature range is 32°F–122°F (0°C–50°C). Charging below 32°F (0°C) is not recommended.

5. How should I store the battery, and what should I do when I receive it?

The battery may arrive with a low state of charge due to shipping. Please charge it promptly after receiving.

For storage:

  • Store at ~50% state of charge (SOC)
  • Store in a dry environment between 50°F–95°F (10°C–35°C)
  • If stored long-term, recharge or cycle the battery every 3–6 months to maintain performance
6. Can I charge GoldenMate LiFePO4 lithium batteries with solar panels?

Yes. Connect the solar panel through a LiFePO4-compatible solar charge controller; never connect a panel directly to the battery.

Set the controller to 14.2V–14.6V and limit charging current to 15A or less for this 30Ah model. Charging time depends on available sunlight, panel output, controller efficiency, and the battery's state of charge.
